Brent’s Ark Elvin Academy has won Playfinder’s acclaimed Outstanding Facility Award for August.
Ark Elvin is situated on Cecil Avenue and has some of the best recreational sports facilities in North West London. Sports players visiting Ark Elvin can take advantage of a state-of-the-art sports hall with five multi-games courts, a multi-use games area with four courts and a full size all weather pitch.
These facilities will be added to shortly after the academy received a substantial government donation. The money will be spent on installing basketball hoops for the outdoor courts and general facility improvements. Other activities include a fully equipped gym and dance studio.
Ark Elvin plays a significant role in the local community and hosted a superb Fit and Fed summer holiday programme for Brent’s children. This local initiative was run by Carmen Llorente, CEO Youth Engagement Solutions Ltd, and Trudy-Ann Teth Manager and is a response to demand from the existing StreetGames’ network and a growing body of research into the triple inequalities of holiday hunger, isolation, and inactivity.
Only recently England and Man City star Raheem Sterling filmed a Nike advert on the 3G pitches as 200 starstruck children watched on from the sidelines.
August’s award, which is determined by Playfinder users, is based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience.
Playfinder, which this summer rebranded from MyLocalPitch, is a platform for sports players who want to find and book sports venues in the country. Users have the choice of over 9,000 of the best facilities around the UK for 19 featured sports.
Jamie Foale, Co-Founder of Playfinder, commented: “Ark Elvin is blessed with some fantastic sports facilities and we know sports players love coming here. The venue is very active in the community and helped lay on a successful Fit and Fed project during the summer holidays for kids.”
Jordan Laville School Leisure and Sports Manager said: “The award is recognition for great facilities that are at Ark Elvin. A massive thank you to everyone that voted for the school, and I hope that the Playfinder platform, continues to give the community the opportunity to visit Ark Elvin Academy”.
